Barker Street Apartments are located on campus overlooking the lush Village Green and while most apartments are five bedroom shared living.

Built in 1996, Barker is the perfect fit for just about everyone. You’ll make friends, meet people and get the most out of a flat share experience. Not only are you on campus, you’re minutes away from Kingsford Shops on Anzac Parade (and McDonald’s is right around the corner!).

There are 59 apartments of varying sizes with an average room size of approximately 10 to 12 square metres.

It’s independent living in a community environment.

Student support

Community Assistants are current UNSW students living on-site at Barker Apartments. Their role is to engage with residents, facilitate social activities and act as the first point of contact for any issues or problems that may arise.

Living at Barker has allowed me to stay close to the action on campus and it’s taught me how to live independently.

I’m originally from Canberra and after completing my undergraduate degree, I decided to live and study at UNSW. I chose Barker Apartments for two reasons, it’s located on campus and it’s good value for money.

My schedule is a little hectic and often means I need to stay in the laboratory till very late, so having the freedom to cook my own meals in my own kitchen is quite handy. I’ve got plenty of space in my bedroom and some pretty fantastic housemates.

What are you studying?

Chemistry (PhD).
