How do I make an application?
All applications are made through our online Resident Portal . Please click here for instructions on how to make an application.
I can’t log in to the portal, what do I do?
From time to time there can be problems with the system. Routine maintenance may have caused the portal to go down. Please try again at a later time . If you continue to experience problems, please contact the Student Accommodation office with details of the issue.
Can I apply for single term?
Returning and new residents can apply for a single term agreement in any college or apartment and only if you’re in the final year of your degree . Supporting documentation must be emailed to Student Accommodation office with your application. i.e. CoE, Academic Statement Letter from faculty
Can I view a room in a college or apartment?
Due to COVID-19, physical tours of the accommodation facilities are currently not available. You can explore the UNSW campus , and the UNSW Colleges and Apartments via 3D Virtual Tours.
Can I request a specific room/apartment when applying?
Unfortunately, no . We can’t guarantee a specific room as this is contingent on availability.
I want to book with friends, can this be arranged?
Possibly. If you’d like to live in a shared apartment with friends, as soon as you’ve submitted your application, each person should email the Student Accommodation office quoting their application number and indicating their preference to live together. We’ll do our best to accommodate you, but
Can I apply for a single gender floor or apartment?
Fig Tree Hall offers single gender floors . This can be selected as a preference when you’re making an application. Single gender apartments in Barker Street, Jacaranda Hall and Cowper St may be available based upon availability and can be selected as a preference when you’re making an application.
I want to apply for both the apartments and colleges, can I make multiple applications?
No, but you can apply for both in the one application . You must select a minimum of 2 accommodation preferences and a maximum of 4 . However, please only select preferences you’re willing to accept . We’ll always do our best to give you your first option, but with a huge amount of demand, we can’t

What documents do I need to provide for a college application?
If you’re applying for one of the colleges (Basser, Goldstein, Philip Baxter, UNSW Hall, Fig Tree Hall or Colombo House) , it is encouraged to complete and upload the Referee Form . The reference must be from a Teacher, Professional, or Work Referee. You may still choose to attach additional
What’s included in the fees?
The fees for all colleges and apartments include all utility bills - electricity, water, and internet (Wi-Fi) . The catered colleges (Basser, Goldstein, Philip Baxter, and Fig Tree Hall) have breakfast, lunch and dinner included in the fees. UNSW Hall has breakfast and dinner included in the fees.
Can I change my preference/s once I’ve submitted my application?
When submitting your application, please indicate in your email accommodation with your preferences ranging in the order of 1 to 4 (1 as most preferred and 4 as least preferred).
How will I be advised if my application is successful?
We’ll send you an offer for residency via email . We’re unable to advise the status of your application until we’re in a position to make an offer.
What happens if I’m not happy with the accommodation I’ve been offered?
If you don’t wish to accept your offer , please email the Student Accommodation office as soon as possible so we can allocate your room to another student. We regret this is the only offer we can make and if you reject it, it’s unlikely we can make an alternative offer. The application fee of $
I received an offer for my 3rd/4th preference but I really want an offer for my 1st preference, what do I do?
You’re advised to only put down preferences you’re willing to accept . If you don’t wish to accept your offer, please email the Student Accommodation office as soon as possible so we can allocate your room to another student. We regret this is the only offer we can make and if you reject it, it’s
