Describe Goldstein in 3 words:
Inclusive, diverse, and active (in having a range of events/activities on all the time)

What is your favourite part about living in Goldstein?
Probably getting to meet so many awesome people from such diverse backgrounds! From rural students to internationals, everyone comes from different places. College is such a great way to learn from the experiences and backgrounds of those around you in a really supportive environment.

What’s your favourite place to eat around UNSW?
This is a tie between Stockmarket, who do the BEST salads, and Stellini’s, which is the ultimate pasta spot on campus!

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I try to avoid studying in my room because this can quickly end up with a nap, so I use the UNSW Library and college study rooms a lot to stay focused.

How do you spend your free time?
In summer, I love walking down to Gordon’s Bay and going for a snorkel but if I’m bored, I will just head down the hall and see who is around for chat.

Any advice to students thinking about living on campus?
It is soooo worth it! I have met so many amazing people, had the convenience of class being a short walk away, and have had the opportunity to be involved in a range of activities/events I didn’t know existed!

Samanvitha (Manu) Yarram

Cultural Director

Degree: Bachelor of Science and Business

What is your favourite part about living in Goldstein?
College is full of incredible people who have all had varying life-experiences. I am so grateful that this is something we embrace at Goldstein.

What have you learnt from staying in Goldstein?
Goldstein gives you the opportunity to hear from different perspectives. Because of this, I feel that I have a much better understanding of myself and the world around me.

What’s your favourite place to eat around UNSW?
As an avid foodie, I can confirm that Stellini’s is the best. Yes always to pasta and a chai latte.

How do you spend your free time?
I love going on long runs in the evening, baking things I’ve seen on Master Chef, and watching really random, niche documentaries.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I want to be able to slow down time because there’s always so much I want to get done. Or maybe just be able to do everything super-fast?

Any advice to students thinking about living on campus?
Do it! It’s a really amazing opportunity to make friends while living in a diverse, inclusive and supportive community.

Kelsie Mitchell

What is your favourite part about living in Goldstein?
I love being surrounded by my close friends and always having an activity to do with them. There’s always something happening at Goldstein and someone to do it with.

Has living on campus been what you expected it to be?
Living on campus has been even better than I imagined. I’m so glad I decided to stay at Goldstein College.

XS Espresso serves up the best

How do you spend your free time?
Playing sport and making art

Can you speak more than one language?
I can also speak German

Any advice to students thinking about living on campus?

Danny Talke

Student

Degree: Commerce / Computer Science

Hometown: Coffs Harbour, NSW

Describe Goldstein in 3 words
Inclusive, collaborative, motivating

What is your favourite part about living in Goldstein?
The promotion and practice of inclusivity and diversity is prime.

Has living on campus been what you expected it to be?
For sure. Such a good mix of gnarly, chilled out and studious behaviour when you need it to be, and the convenience is just next level.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Don’t over-extend yourself and get an accountability buddy to check in with or your RF.
Get on top of your sleep. It’s criminally underrated and honestly you’ll love yourself for it. Trust.

How do you spend your free time?
Having a jam on the guitar or cruising to Maroubra for a surf is a go-to. Otherwise, spending time with your mates is always real good.

If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?
Sort of useless, but it’d be so good to be able to throw cords and have them stick into outlets. Also, the ability to be self-sufficient and content — sort of like being able to address the idea composed in Pascal’s quote, "all of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone".

Any advice to students thinking about living on campus?
Here is the place to keep your social door open. Trust me, you’ll feel at home and in the long run create a plethora of amazing friendships.
